The section of urogynecology offers comprehensive evaluation and treatment for patients with urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse. Our goal is to provide patients and referring physicians with the appropriate counseling and educational resources necessary to make informed decisions regarding their treatment options. Our multivaried approach to the challenges of female incontinence and pelvic prolapse optimizes long term success.
Residents rotate on urogynecology during their 4th year, where they spend significant time in both the ambulatory and surgical setting. This rotation provides residents with the critical skills necessary to evaluate and manage most patients with incontinence and pelvic support disorders.
While in the ambulatory setting, the resident will be exposed to a variety of testing and treatment modalities, including urodynamic testing, cystoscopy, pessary fitting, pelvic floor physical therapy, and behavioral modifications. In addition to ambulatory experience, residents spend extensive time in the operating suite with exposure and training in surgical approaches to incontinence and prolapse. Residents are directly involved in surgeries and the postoperative care of the patient. This experience is balanced with an individual and group didactic curriculum that supports the residents' intellectual growth and understanding of the subspecialty.
