In 2010, Advocate Health became a founding sponsor of the Healthier Hospitals Initiative, a 3-year national campaign to implement best practices focused on improving sustainability in the health care sector. Healthier Hospitals is now a permanent program of Practice Greenhealth, engaging over 1,300 hospitals in six challenge categories: liderazgo comprometido, alimentos más saludables, energía más eficiente, menos desechos, productos químicos más seguros y compras más inteligentes.

In partnership with a number of leading health systems, Health Care Without Harm and Practice Greenhealth, Advocate Health is working to accelerate market changes toward environmentally-preferable products and services for the health care sector and beyond through participation in two Market Transformation Groups.

Carbon pollution and climate change has direct impacts on individual, community and public health, and Advocate is proud to join the Health Care Climate Council with a number of leading health systems that are:
